Halja – the Goddess of Hel – had a Three Legged Horse.
It was said to be seen at night, wandering burial grounds,
and is said to be a harbinger of death for all who see it.
§eiðfolk are said to be able to summon Helhest,
so they may visit Halja .. or those who reside in her Hall.
According to legends among the Gothic Tribes that
lived in the Northern regions, Gapt, or ‘Odin’, road upon a
Three Legged Horse, and at Yule, would demand from
blacksmiths that they gift him with three horseshoes,
or travel with him to the Land of Mist.
Did Odin borrow or steal Halja’s stead?
